Zigrod’s Potions Shop

I wrote this piece in anticipation of the release of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Games have obviously come a long long way since the days of N64, but I was remembering the charm and immersive world that Ocarina of Time offered way back when I was a kid. That game had a huge influence on me, including on my music making. In fact, the very first time I used a computer to make music was to make an arrangement of Kokiri Forest by Koji Kondo, using Cubase Light on a notoriously buggy HP computer.

Zigrod’s Potions Shop is a nod to Koji Kondo’s enduring themes from Ocarina of Time, particularly the light-hearted stuff you hear in potions shops and villages throughout Hyrule.

As for the score for TotK, Manaka Kataoka’s music is pitch perfect throughout.
